Congrats to 2007 Turkey Bowling Champ…David Marsille

29 11 2007

David emerged victorious in the fierce competition for the coveted prize that is yet to be determined. He walked away with blood dripping from his bands because of the fierce battle (actually the thawing turkey). Anyhow, David is the reigning champ until next year, when we will pull out the very same turkey, which now sits in the comfortable confines of the Refuge freezer, where it will again be tortured. Actually, just so no offense is caused to Animal activists, we will forever recycle this same turkey until Jesus comes back.

Patrick Thorpe Scores Winning Touchdown in 1st Annual Turkey Bowl!!!

27 11 2007

patrick-thorpe.jpg

At 8 am on Thanksgiving morning when not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; the few, the proud, the brave assembled in the freezing rain and soggy field of Marion Elementary for the 1st annual Turkey Bowl. Patrick Thorpe scored the winning touchdown with 1:14 remaining in the 4th quarter. He stiff-armed MacKenzie Reiss to the face, nearly knocking her teeth out, at which I ran at him with all my might. I leaped to tackle the evasive Thorpe, and, SNAP, my hamstring snapped and I fell to the ground in pain. Patrick had scored and I was left on the ground tasting defeat, and some mud.

ACTUALLY, the above is all fictitious, although I wish it were somewhat true, except for the stiff-arm and hamstring incident. 6 people showed up, and we were short 4 folks to play 5 on 5 . Anyhow, I treated everyone to a wonderful Thanksgiving breakfast at Burger King, where the employees stared at us like we were aliens or something for coming in on Thanksgiving. The breakfast was good!!! Well, next year, we may have to move our 2nd annual Turkey Bowl to the church and play a game of hoops indoors to accommodate all you weaklings who can’t stand the freezing cold early in the morning during school break.

Happy BDay Shawn Vanderbrook!!! Look at dem guns.
